Kids Free Downloadable Yoga Videos
From LoveToKnow Yoga
If you want to find exercise activities for kids, free downloadable yoga videos are a great option. For children who haven’t tried yoga before, free videos to watch at home help to ease them into the idea of it. If your child is excited about trying yoga, downloading different routines also helps keep practice fresh.
What to Expect from Free Yoga Videos Online
Surprisingly, there are not many resources for free kids' yoga videos online. One reason for this may be the difference between class and independent instruction.
In class, a certified instructor is on-hand to guide your child and make sure the postures are performed correctly and safely. However, when you download a routine, this responsibility rests on you and the child, or perhaps the child alone. It’s possible many studios and instructors prefer to guide children through yoga one-on-one, rather than online.
As you’re reviewing different options for free videos for kids' yoga, make safety the first priority. Just because that particular class is doing something doesn’t mean it’s appropriate for your child.
Also, many kids' free downloadable yoga videos are not full-length routines. Sometimes a free segment highlights one pose or features a short, five-minute routine to get children in the mood for yoga.
Finally, make sure to preview all online videos first, especially if they are derived from an unfamiliar individual or source. You want safe routines that are focused and fun!
Finding Kids Free Downloadable Yoga Videos
YouTube
Start your search for kids' yoga videos on YouTube. You’ll find a wide range of free images here, including segments from the popular Gaiam DVD series, Yoga Kids. Type “GaiamSearch”, all one word, into the search field, or use this link to see a variety of clips, some as long as five minutes.
Also on YouTube are snippets of features from the Australian company KindaYoga. There are three segments that mix animation with real kids, combining poses and stories of Yuga, the monkey. KindaYoga offers an entire series of DVDs designed especially for children’s yoga. If you visit the website, there’s an opportunity to preview the entire DVD series.
My First Yoga has a couple of clips on YouTube, too, including this one leading a kids’ class through Volcano Breath. My First Yoga provides instruction in schools and child care centers around the U.S. Look in the newsletter section of the website for additional yoga poses for kids. These poses are presented as pictures, not video, but are easy to understand and work into a routine.
Many different yoga studios post videos on YouTube to demonstrate how the staff teaches kid’s yoga classes. Simply enter “kid’s yoga” into the search field, and you’ll find a large number of free yoga video samples.
AnmolMehta.com
This site doesn’t offer children-specific yoga videos, but it does provide detailed pose descriptions and pictures for kid’s yoga. There are also other free video options featuring yoga and meditation. Depending on your child’s experience, these videos may be helpful.
Yoga Body Naturals
Again, this site doesn’t have yoga videos specifically for children, but there are many helpful video clips of certain pose sequences, such as Sun Salutations and the Warrior series. Watch the clips in full first before sharing with your child, and determine the appropriate modification for his or her abilities.
Other Online Options
If you’re not pleased with the online yoga selection for kids, free downloadable yoga videos for general beginners are also available at select sites. Choose basic Hatha Yoga routines that you are familiar with, and practice together. Some great sites include:
These sites may not offer free yoga videos all the time – some may be available only through a trial period. But, you’ll still have the opportunity to give them a test run and see if you and your child enjoy the routines.

-- Contributed by: YogaPerspective.comNamaste' to you. This is wonderful. My children do yoga with me but I know that it can be difficult to get children to engage in yoga because it is different and depending on a child's personality it may be intimidating to start something new. When this is the case, if a child can see it first, it becomes less intimidating and more doable and realistic for them to see themselves doing it. Fantastic. Thank you for your work.
