Chair Yoga DVDs

From LoveToKnow Yoga

There are many reasons why working with chair yoga DVDs helps you maintain good health.

DVDs can help instruct you in chair yoga

Using a Chair Makes Sense

If you’re new to yoga, in recovery from an illness or injury, or simply trying to improve your range of motion, using a chair as yoga prop equipment helps you to maintain balance and focus on form. Many women also consider performing prenatal yoga easier and more comfortable from a chair, especially during the third trimester.

Yoga instructor John Schlorholtz also believes seniors benefit a great deal from using a chair as support for yoga. In his yoga DVD “Ageless Yoga”, it’s one of his best props.

The confidence of that support frees both the body and mind so an individual may experience greater flexibility and increased circulation, fluidity of movement, and a peaceful sense of wellbeing. In addition, breathing exercises performed in a chair reduce back fatigue.

By following along with a chair yoga DVD in the comfort of your home, you don't have to worry about mobility issues or keeping up with a class. Your attention is centered on your progress.

Chair Yoga DVDs to Try

Just about any exercise that uses a chair will features some yoga postures, because simple stretching is an integral part of the routine. You can even slip into Downward Facing Dog Pose with a chair to hold on to!

Many of these chair yoga DVDs specialize in modified poses which, as you build strength, you can extend into the full posture.

Other Yoga DVDs of Interest

If you’d like to expand your yoga DVD library as you build strength or continue recovery, add these selections to your library. Some of these might not be chair yoga DVD routines specifically, but are complete with posture and prop suggestions for any necessary modification.

  • Edward Vilga’s Yoga in Bed program demonstrates that you can perform yoga anywhere. If you’re in recovery, you can still perform simple but effective yoga postures without leaving your bed.
